Banks and ATM

Banks in Molivos

A branch of the Greek National Bank is located at the entrance of Molivos, right next to the Tourist Information Office. Two ATM cash machines are available in this location.

Banks in Petra

If you happen to be in Petra you can also access a cash machine in the town centre (Plateia). In Anaxos and further on the island, many hotels exchange foreign currency and traveler's cheques, you just need to walk in and ask.

Personal contact is always the best way to experience the Greek lifestyle. You might start your day by just wanting to change your currency, but you might find yourself having a long chat and a glass of wine with the hotel's personnel. While in Greece, try not to rush.

Banks in Mytilene

There are many banks located all around Mytilene and ATM machines are easily accessible. If you are flying to Lesvos you will have the chance to use an ATM machine or an Exchange Bank in the Airport. For further details please see below a list of ATMs in Lesvos.

Currency Euro (€)

Greece has adopted the Euro (€) as its official currency. One Euro is divided into 100 cents. Euro banknotes come in denominations of €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200, €500. The highest three denominations are rarely used in everyday transactions.

Coins are issued in €2, €1, 50c, 20c, 10c, 5c, 2c, and 1c denominations. If you are Dutch or Finnish don't be surprised by the 2c and 1c, Greeks think no less of them and use them in their everyday transactions.

Most Automatic Banking Machines use the major Credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and Maestro. Keep in mind, American Express credit card is used the least in this area of Lesvos.
