Learn Greek

You will find it useful to know a few Greek words before arriving in Greece. Locals welcome broken Greek and do not take it personally if they break a smile while you are trying simply trying to say thank you, efcharisto. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

Although to learn Greek is not so difficult, just give it a try. So many words are of Greek origins, that you might happily discover you know a bit of Greek already. Start with a few common Greek phrases and of course the Greek alphabet.

Lesvos Summer Jobs

It is common for travelers to find a part time job in Molivos as it gets quite crowded starting from June and many restaurant or Cafe owners seek extra help.
 
The best way to go about it is to spread the word and tell anyone you know or meet that you are interested. It is quite likely that they will know someone who knows someone who needs help. So give it a go!

Banks and ATM

Banks in Molivos

A branch of the Greek National Bank is located at the entrance of Molivos, right next to the Tourist Information Office. Two ATM cash machines are available in this location.
 
Banks in Petra

If you happen to be in Petra you can also access a cash machine in the town centre (Plateia). In Anaxos and further on the island, many hotels exchange foreign currency and traveler's cheques, you just need to walk in and ask.

Personal contact is always the best way to experience the Greek lifestyle. You might start your day by just wanting to change your currency, but you might find yourself having a long chat and a glass of wine with the hotel's personnel. While in Greece, try not to rush.
