If you do not mind curvy roads, the bus is the cheapest way of traveling around the island. One way trips cost just a few Euros. You can buy tickets on the bus and in some cases at some tobacco or deli stands.
There are bus stops at almost every village which makes traveling around Lesvos comfortable and easy.
Locating the bus stop at some towns might be a small challenge, as there are often no signs. Take this chance to talk with locals and ask for further directions.
Getting a Bus - Locations
Mytilene has a large and often very busy bus stop. Travel by bus if you are not in a hurry or carry heavy luggage. Enjoy the stroll in Mytilene and look for the bus stop.
Locate the bus stop by the entrance of the town, South East of the Park and close to the harbour. Walk towards the Municipal Theatre and the City Hall and you will find the bus stop.
If you were hoping to take a bus from the airport to Mytilene or to any other town you are out of luck as there is no bus stop at the airport. You can either take a taxi for a few Euros to the Mytilene bus station, or you can rent a car to reach any destination.
At the entrance of Molivos, next to the Public Primary School you will find the Molivos Bus stop. In specific, two wooden benches under the shade of some trees. Gather up and wait for the bus to drive up. Since the road is narrow be careful and stay on the sidewalk.Usually the bus departs a few times during the day and the rates are low. The most recent bus schedules and destinations are available at the Molivos Tourist Information Office, next to the Greek National Bank.

Traveling by bus is common in Lesvos, both for guests and locals. Don't be surprised if the bus is full of locals carrying their shopping bags from Mytilene back to their town.
Locals usually spend many hours in Mytilene running errands, since many little towns offer limited choices on shopping, health facilities and governmental offices. The town is always busy and feels very alive.
Speaking from experience, make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance at any bus stop.
